President Putin Highlights Russian Unity at Shanghai Cooperation Organization Meeting Amidst International Challenges

During the video conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, organized by India, President Vladimir Putin stated on Tuesday that the Russian people are “more united than ever before.” He made this assertion in light of a rare international organization meeting, aiming to express confidence amidst a short-term insurgency, where he could find sympathetic listeners.

The summit, held in Russia, was the first multilateral meeting after the armed uprising, and it was eager to demonstrate that Moscow’s attempts to separate itself from the 2022 aggression on Western Ukraine had been unsuccessful.

In order to counter Western alliances, the Asian Security Group established by Russia and China also welcomed Iran as a new member, extending its membership to nine countries.
