Scientists Make Groundbreaking Discovery of Hidden Granite Chunk on the Moon

In a groundbrеaking discovеry,  sciеntists have stumblеd upon a massivе chunk of anciеnt granitе concеalеd bеnеath thе lunar surfacе,  shеdding light on a prеviously unknown form of volcanism on thе Moon. This volcanic site spans approximately 50 kilometers and, based on our analysis, the only plausible explanation for the significant heat we detect is a vast body of granite—a rock that forms when the molten lava beneath a volcano cools. Granite possesses high concentrations of radioactive elements like uranium and thorium compared to other lunar crust rocks, accounting for the heat signatures we have observed on the lunar surface.”

Experts further explained that granites are an exceptionally rare occurrence in the Solar System, existing primarily on Earth due to igneous activities involving magma. Until now, only minuscule traces of granite were identified among the hundreds of kilograms of rocks brought back by NASA’s Apollo missions. Even subsequent remote sensing studies could only identify a few small granite-like features scattered across the Moon’s surface.
